LOTUS GARDEN TRUST

Permaculture Gardens

image

Mandala gardens based on a Linda Woodrow design. Utilizing a chook dome that moves around the circle, fertilizing & preparing each bed, a central pond to attract birds to eat bugs, surrounded in fruit trees to provide some shade in summer. Conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. A harmonious integration of landscape and people — providing food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way.

Bush Regeneration

We practice chemical free bush regenation. Natural aea restoration using native endemic species, to attract native birds and animals. Removing weeds & enhancing the floral biodiversity by providing conditions conducive to the recruitment and survival of native plants.

Lotus Garden

image

Lotus flowers, seeds & roots for culinary & spiritual use. The essence of the lotus flower has been used since the time of ancient Egypt because of its particularly potent impact on our subtle bodies. It creates a link between the analytical and the higher, intuitive mind of an individual through it’s aphrodisiac and euphoric properties. This combination creates within the individual a longing for the higher spiritual kind of love and the seeking of pleasure that is found in union with the Divine.

Succulent Garden

image

We propagate hundreds of species of leaf, stem and root succulent plants. By making the most of scarce available moisture, succulents can survive in habitats that are far too dry for most other plants.

Solar Power

image

Utilizing energy from the sun we generate power for our needs, store it in batteries for backup and feed it into the grid for our neighbours to use. We have a solar tracking array that dramatically increases solar panel output by as much as 30% + solar hot water systems for all our hot water needs.

Earthbag Building

image

We host workshops to teach the basics of Earthbag Building. and by the end of the weekend feel ready to begin a small structure by themselves. We will inspect existing buildings, do hands-on demonstrations on how to fill bags, how to lay them, and how to tamp them, and engage in Q & A sessions. Supplemental slide shows and film screenings complete the experience.
